Low platelet count in my three year old...?

My daughter is scheduled for her third cauterization this coming Tuesday. This time she will be put to sleep for it, because of the last two failed attempts and because she is young (only three years old) She is having it done because of severe nose bleeds that we cant get to stop. Well they said they wanted to run some blood work a week prior to the procedure of course. I got the call today saying her platelet level was low and she needs to see a pediatric hematologist. I am now freaking out. I have read some stuff online but of course its making me more nervous because I see leukemia... So basically question is, any one with a similar experience and if so, what was the outcome. Thank you.
