My friend like[s/ed] me and he is being a jerk about it?

I don't even know how to start this question.. Okay so I've been friends with this boy Mitch ever since the first day of grade 8 (end of grade 9 now). I dated his best friend for a little over a year, but we broke up at the beginning of the 9th grade. After that, Mitch started to like me. I knew he did, and he kept hinting that he wanted to ask me out. We'd be talking on facebook and he'd say how he liked a girl who just broke up with his friend and wanted to know how to ask her out. I told him that he probably shouldnt date (because his parents don't want him dating at the age of 14-15). He agreed and I said that being single was fun, and we should embrace it together. After that he started to make himself distant from me. That was about 2 months ago. I try to talk to him almost daily, but he won't talk to me! He is always cold, or will say rude things to me both in person and online. He only acts like this towards me. He was a great friend but now he treats me like I'm stupid. What do I do? I always confront him, and ask if I've done something wrong but the only thing he says is "Why would I be mad at you?" or "I'm not mad at you. You didn't do anything wrong".
