Adopting a child is good or bad?

I am single; occasionally use to go to mother Teresa’s charitable trust at my city. Where I come across few children who are orphan, mentally fit but physically handicapped and going to schools, but their school is not as good as it should be for one who wants to become something in life. No other nearby school is ready to take them, may be because they are handicapped and may not give their hundred percent efforts. These kids too have a feeling that they are orphan and their life is aimless. So I thought to adopt at least one of them for the time being.
